Semana 35

Que tal Another great week this week! Here's my highlights: Note from last week: Totally forgot to add this to the email but two of our friends, Zuni and Ingrid, got baptized a few weeks ago! I added the picture below! Poor Elder Smith wanted to do some street contacting one day as we were walking home from the Terminal, so I taught him how to start a contact in Spanish and set him loose on the people of Formosa. Unfortunately he got flashed within the first few minutes so that experience didn't last too long There's a kid in our neighborhood who has been STUDYING when we leave our apartment every day so he can throw CD's at us. Don't ask me why or how he has so many CD's, but it's been every day this week. He sees us walking down the street, yells something in GuaranĂ, and throws a blank CD at us, before disappearing into a house within seconds. The CD Bandito is still at large We had lunch at a member's house this week and one of the kids said "...

¡Hola a todos! Here's the highlights from the past two weeks in Formosa Capital: It is really hot (Highest this week was 104°F with 98% humidity) and every single conversation that I have starts with somebody mentioning that it is really hot Elder Smith and I were knocking doors to try and find some members in the projects and a dude answered the door 100% naked. Turns out he was not the member we were looking for Went on Divisions with Elder Reyes in Centenario and participated in the most heated Ward Council meeting that I have ever experienced Found a goat and his owner said that if we want we can use him to ride around the neighborhood so we can get around faster. W I've been living the dream that I had throughout my whole 6 months in San Vicente because there are Elders who live closer than 3 hours away and we play basketball every Pday  Life is good Let me know how you've all been doing! Have a great week! Cuernos Abajo, Elder Johnson 1-3 Formosa Capital 4. Formosa ...

¡Hola a todos! Week one in the new area! I'm now serving in the capital city of the Formosa Province, and it's been a blast so far!  Highlights: Parted ways with Elder Yetter on Tuesday morning at 2:00 am after getting stranded in Posadas without a place to stay for about the 9th time After surviving the night on the streets of Posadas I headed to Resistencia to pick up my new companion, Elder Smith! He's from St. George, Utah. He's picking up Spanish pretty quickly which is great, as I have 0 desire to speak English Formosa kind of reminds me a little of Las Vegas; it's a big, desert city with a giant road down the middle that takes much longer to walk than you might think. But where Las Vegas has The Strip, our giant road is called "La Gutnisky" I have flooded the new apartment twice In Formosa there's about 5 different Bakery chains that all claim to have "El Buen Pan" which essentially means "THE good bread". The goal is to fi...

Hola compinches Great week this week! Here's what went down: Had divisions with the ZL's down in Apostoles on Tuesday, found out biking through mud in the rain is not quite as fun as it might sound, especially in Missionary attire. Luckily, however, this time I was able to use the bike that wasn't made for someone who is 5 feet tall so that was definitely very dope We left Apostoles at 2:00 am on Wednesday morning so we could book it back to San Vicente for divisions with the Elders from Puerto Rico. Learned that a total of 5 hours of sleep between two days is not enough to get you through back to back divisions... Luckily divisions were litty Almost passed out while making Mac and Cheese on Friday, make sure to open a window or run the AC if you're cooking in a rental apartment with poor ventilation in South America during the Summer Our friend Nestor got baptized yesterday! He had told us on Christmas Eve that he wasn't feeling ready to get baptized, and after t...
