Semana 13

¡Hola a todos! This week I've officially been in Argentina longer than I was in the MTC. I'm sure that feels like more of an accomplishment than it really is. Here's my highlights from this week: Moleskin was the MVP this week. I think I might have to challenge Elder Crockett's notion that wet wipes are the most OP, my pick goes to Moleskin I laughed when I was re-reading my email from last week because it was REALLY HOT this week. It was a grass-is-always-greener kinda moment for sure One afternoon after lunch Elder Packer and I were walking down the street when we heard a guy sitting on a bench say "Hey Elders come talk to me" in perfect English. Not something that usually happens in the middle of Misiones, Argentina, so we hustled over and sat down to talk to him. Turns out he really just wanted to tell us about his personal religious beliefs, ESPECIALLY about the prophecy he had received that he would be the President of Argentina when he turned 63. Afte...

Semana 12

¡Hola a todos! Another awesome week! Here's the highlights: The best part of my week was yesterday when the kids in my Ward asked me to Rap in English for them. I broke out one of the best Luckus verses I could do, and they went crazy. I thought it was so funny that they were still impressed when they didn't understand a single word of what I said It was REALLY COLD this week. Cold here is nothing like dry, Colorado cold: it's 100% humidity, bone-chilling cold. The best part is that usually the bone-chilling cold is accompanied with crazy rainstorms. The best part about cold weather is that families are more likely to let us in when they see us shivering! One night on the way down to one of our neighborhoods, we got caught in a HUGE storm, so we spent the night walking from house to house in ankle-high water on straight dirt roads. It rained so hard, Elder Packer's Umbrella broke. Mine managed to survive which was a major W I am officially too tall for this country. I...

¡Hooooooola amigos y familia! Just had the fastest week so far of my mission, it was a blast! Here's what I've been up to: I got to be companions for a day with my good friend Elder Figueroa, who's from the southern part of Chile and is an absolute BEAST of a missionary! We got to spend the day together so I could get some other perspectives on how to improve my Spanish and teaching skills. It was way fun! (Especially speaking Chilean Spanish for a whole day. Those of you who are familiar with Chilean Spanish know what I'm talking about) My favorite experience from exchanges with Elder Figueroa was an opportunity to teach a whole town The Plan of Salvation. The town is called Amba'Y Poty; to get there, we had to take a 2 hour bus ride into the middle of the Jungle, then hike for 20 minutes to find the little village. Once we were there, all 30-ish citizens gathered around a fire as we taught them a lesson. It was one of the most humbling experiences I have ever ha...

Semana 10

Hola a todos, ¿cómo andan? I've left San Vicente for a few days to go to Puerto Rico for a Zone Conference! Not the Puerto Rico the country, (unfortunately), just another small city in our province called Puerto Rico Here's my highlights from the week: When Elder Packer and I came back to our apartment Tuesday night, we were surprised to find a huge dog chilling outside the front door. We were worried at first, because the dogs here can be pretty aggressive (and this one probably could've eaten me) but luckily he was super friendly and just wanted some head pats. Now he comes back every night and sits outside our door waiting for us to come home I learned a new game this week that all the kids play here! It's where one kid stands facing a wall, and another kid stands 3 feet away and kicks a soccer ball at their head as hard as they can. If you get hit in the head you have to play again. I was invited to join in after watching a few rounds, to which I politely decline...

¡Qué Tal a todos! Short email for today unfortunately... Ran outta time to write so sorry bout that Due to an unfortunate but honest mistake by my fearless trainer, we only had 400 pesos (about $4.00 US Dollars) and 30 eggs to live off of this week... so I was, in a sense, constantly starving. You know you're not doing well when you have to make an egg sandwich for lunch. And not an egg sandwich with bread. I'm talking about an EGG sandwich: one runny egg, sandwiched in between two other eggs. It's lit out here Once we got money to buy food I went back to being able to subsist off of the amazing food out here. Last night I ate 30 empanadas at a member's home, and today I ate a burger for $800 pesos that was larger than my entire head We had a bit of a rough week teaching, with most of our lessons falling through every day, but I'm excited and ready to get into another week of hard work! Hard times are there for a reason! Thanks for the support, and as always, let ...
