Semana 13
¡Hola a todos!
This week I've officially been in Argentina longer than I was in the MTC. I'm sure that feels like more of an accomplishment than it really is.
Here's my highlights from this week:
- Moleskin was the MVP this week. I think I might have to challenge Elder Crockett's notion that wet wipes are the most OP, my pick goes to Moleskin
- I laughed when I was re-reading my email from last week because it was REALLY HOT this week. It was a grass-is-always-greener kinda moment for sure
- One afternoon after lunch Elder Packer and I were walking down the street when we heard a guy sitting on a bench say "Hey Elders come talk to me" in perfect English. Not something that usually happens in the middle of Misiones, Argentina, so we hustled over and sat down to talk to him. Turns out he really just wanted to tell us about his personal religious beliefs, ESPECIALLY about the prophecy he had received that he would be the President of Argentina when he turned 63. After about a half hour of talking I told him that he's got my vote for sure
- Later that day I witnessed one of the craziest things I've ever seen: A war between an army of Niños and an army of Perritos. I'm not too sure what started the conflict, but Elder Packer and I rounded a corner in one of our neighborhoods and saw an absolute BATTLE between about 15 dogs and 15 kids. It was so crazy, I wasn't sure if I was supposed to intervene or just watch. Luckily after a few minutes both sides were pacified and (to my knowledge) nobody got hurt
- Cooked up some Home Made Empanadas this week and they were amazing
- This week our friend Andrea decided to be Baptized! She told us she wasn't sure yet when we had invited her a few times before, but on Saturday night she decided she was ready! When we asked her about what had helped her to be ready, she said she found all the answers she needed in the Book of Mormon.
- I learned that Argentine Kids love yelling the F word, especially in church
- Last night we were eating dinner with a family in our branch when the power suddenly went out. We weren't too worried because power outages are pretty common here, so we finished up eating dinner and left with enough time to make it back to our apartment before it got too late. What we didn't realize was that the entire city of San Vicente had lost power, and when we walked outside it was PITCH black. It was so dark, I couldn't see my hand in front of my face. We could've turned on a flashlight, but we didn't want to attract the attention of some of the people who we could hear around us who were enjoying some mild looting. It was pretty fun though not gonna lie
Every week when I write these emails I look back on the crazy experiences I've had, and every week I'm reminded that I'm so grateful to be here. Make sure to let me know how you're doing! Thanks for the support!
