Semanas 3-4

 What's up everyone!

These past two weeks have been absolutely crazy! I left Colorado for the CCM in Mexico City last Tuesday morning, and ever since then it's been non-stop! We were told when we got to the CCM that day that we wouldn't have a P-Day that week, (which was super lame), so I apologize if anyone has sent me something over the past two weeks and I haven't been able to respond.

Here's some highlights from the past two:

  • The drive from the Mexico City airport to the CCM was one of the craziest experiences of my whole life. Mexico City is unlike anything I've ever seen; absolutely zero building ordinances, crazy traffic, and people walking EVERYWHERE. Including in front of moving vehicles. And in the middle of the road, against oncoming traffic. The only place where I have ever seen people drive worse was in Shanghai.
  • The CCM is kinda like Mexico-Flavored BYU. Some of the buildings look like they were ripped right out of Provo. So, as I've gotten over the initial challenges with starting In-Person MTC, I've started to feel right at home. However, there are gunshots that can be heard from outside of campus every 20 minutes. So I guess there's definitely some key differences...
  • I had heard from so many people that the food here is terrible. However, it's actually pretty gas. No complaints there, especially when we get Costco Pizza on Tuesday nights. On Tuesday nights we eat like KINGS.
  • My Spanish continues to get better day by day. I can now comfortably have conversations with most of the Native speakers who are on the CCM campus, and understand anywhere from 60%-90% of what is being said. It's a great feeling to know that even though I'm still gonna be lost when I get to Argentina, at least I'm making progress!
  • I thought this story was too graphic for a general audience, but my Dad told me I should share it, so blame him if you don't like it: After the first few days in our house, I noticed that there was one fewer towel in our room then there were Elders. Confused, I asked the three other Elders in our room where the missing towel was. My companion then proceeded to say that he didn't actually bring a towel. Concerned, I asked how he had been drying himself off. He said he just always used the Blue Towel that was hanging up. There were two very unfortunate truths about that statement: A) The Blue Towel is mine, and B) We later learned that this Elder does not use soap. Super fun.
These past two weeks have been super hard, but I've learned so much already! The most important thing I learned is that if I rely on the Lord and have faith in Him, then I can do all things. Love you all, and let me know how you're doing! I love hearing from you!
