Semana 38

 ¡Hola amigos y familia!

First week of my second transfer in Formosa!

Highlights:
  • Got a new companion this week! His name is Elder Rasmussen and he's from Reno, Nevada. He's 6'7 so I now get to be the one who feels short. However it has been a nice change from training for the past 4.5 months, teaching 50/50 in lessons is something I've definitely missed
  • Contrary to what every person in Formosa says ("It is NEVER cold here in Formosa, EVEN during the winter") it got super cold out of nowhere and dumped rain for a few days. Super nice change from the 110° weather every day
  •  Apparently everyone in the area decided that they're super confident, because me and Elder Rasmussen have been hit on about 8 different times this week. One of our friends, Sergio, lives with his Mom, and every time we walk in to teach them she just starts saying "QUE LINDOOOOOO QUE LINDOOOO QUE LINDO QUE SOS" which essentially means she thinks we're pretty. Also another girl asked us what we do on the weekends and we said "Pretty much just work and go to church", so lo and behold she showed up to church on Sunday😶 she was not pleased to learn that even after church on Sunday the local elders are not in fact free to go on dates
  • Elder Rasmussen is a really good companion and we've been working really well together! I am, however, slowly working on being able to talk about other things other than the area/work/zone 24/7/365. The typical conversation goes like this as we are walking down the street:
    • E. Johnson: So Elder Rasmussen how many people are in your family?
    • E. Rasmussen: How do you think we can help the Elders and Sisters in our zone make and achieve goals to fulfill the standards of excellence for our Key Indicators?
    • E. Johnson: ........ maybe we can ask the District Leaders to make sure each companionship is setting a daily goal for new people found?
    • E. Rasmussen: Yeah that's what I was thinking. Also there's 7 people in my family
I am slowly but surely unraveling the mystery of his pre-mission life
  • Found the ugliest dog in Argentina, I'll put a picture below but I don't think it will do justice to how truly foul this thing is. It looks like the dog from Coco: hairless, half-destroyed tongue hanging outside the mouth, broken leg, the whole nine yards
  • It's been a rough week this week in regards to personal health: Woke up twice this week with spider bites the size of quarters on the backs of my legs, got 3 different oil burns from making empanadas, and the Peach Incident. Great week for the work but L week for personal health
  • Our friend Bianca came to church for the third time this week, so her baptism will be coming up pretty soon!
That's about it for the week! Make sure to let me know how you're doing!

Cuernos Abajo,

Elder Johnson
