Semanas 55-56: Back in the Field
What's up everyone
Made it back to the field this week! Lots of travelling and readjusting to missionary life, but it's been a great couple of weeks! Here's my highlights:
- Surgery recovery went well! I spent a lot of time sitting on my couch and really not doing anything. Luckily my Stake President gave me some leeway with things I could do/watch as I was recovering from surgery, so I sat down last week and watched Avatar: The Last Airbender from start to finish, which was fire
- It was so amazing to spend a bunch of time with my family over these past few weeks! Families are an amazing blessing and even though I never planned on/wanted to come home in the middle of my mission, I am for sure super lucky that I was able to see family right in the middle! Shoutout to everyone who made time to come and see me when I was home, you're the real ones for sure
- After my follow up appointment went well on Friday, I got cleared to head back to my mission the following Monday! So basically we spent last weekend packing and getting all my stuff together so I would be able to head back to Resi as soon as possible. My Dad and I also packed a 20 pound duffle bag full of snacks and soda that you can't get in Argentina, which even survived the two-day travel period
- Saying goodbye to your family is arguably one of the worst moments that you have as a missionary... Luckily I got to do that twice! However, it wasn't quite as bad as the first time because I knew I'd be back sooner than the last time when I said bye for two years
- Flying back to Argentina was a nightmare. I think every flight I had got delayed, and I spent a total of 20 hours in layovers. Luckily a guy from Church Travel who picked me up in Buenos Aires let me sleep in his van for 5 hours on one of the layovers, so shoutout Marcos from Church Travel
- When I finally got to the Mission, President and Sister Reber came to pick me up from the airport! They are headed home this Tuesday, so it was my last chance to see them and say goodbye! They've been great leaders and role models for me, and it'll be very interesting getting a new Mission President this upcoming week
- I went back to my same area with my same companion, Elder Fuller. He was with my former companion Elder Bell when I got there, so I got to spend a night with two of my favorite comps before starting missionary work back up again. However, they were both super sick when I got back, and sure enough, I woke up on my first morning back in Resistencia, sick as death. So this week was a struggle readjusting to the Missionary grindset while fighting some random cold
- Other than being sick, I've loved getting back to the field and working again! There's no experience quite like heading out every day in the morning and looking for ways to serve everyone around you. Even talking with the snippy people on the street made me happy. I love being a missionary and am grateful that I still have another year left to serve!
- Went on Divisions with AP Rose from Atlanta which was lit. He made me the most fire Asado I've had in Argentina
- Last night as we were walking home, we found a giant turtle that had been flattened by a car. Picture below, RIP in peace Turtle
That's about it for me! Thanks for the support as always and I appreciate everyone who has reached out to me as of late! Let me know how you're all doing!
