Semana 57
¡Hola!
Great week with lots of ups and downs!
Highlights:
- Started off the week with divisions with Elder Bell, one of my favorite companions that I was with back in Formosa! It's kinda weird going on splits with someone you were already companions with... kind of just like picking up right back where you left off. Luckily we got along really well before, so Elder Bell and I had a blast for sure
- On divisions, Elder Bell and I had an awesome experience with our friend Manuel. He is a 91-year old recent convert to the church who is currently receiving the post-baptism lessons. When we went by on Tuesday morning, we had planned to show a video about Temples and invite Manuel to prepare to go to the Temple to receive his other necessary ordinances. When we showed the video and told him about what an eternal family really means, Manuel began to cry. I wrote down what he said in my journal and thought I would share it:
"I can't express with words how I feel and how truly excited I am. A blessing like this is one of the only things in the world that could really make me happy again. I want you two boys to know that I will never forget this moment or how much hope you have given me."
An amazing experience that I will not soon forget
- On Wednesday, President and Sister Reber went home, and President and Sister Barlow arrived to the Mission! We got to meet them on Thursday morning in a bug testimony meeting they had with the two zones in Resistencia. They seem really great and excited to be here in the mission
- We made a Facebook post saying that we would give free service and it actually popped off, lots of people were commenting and we have some good visits planned for this week
- On Friday, our friend Axel told us that he had read the Book of Mormon and gotten an answer that it was true! We were so excited, but unfortunately when he was telling us, his mom was within earshot and she did NOT like what she had heard. So for the rest of the week she didn't let him meet with us or go to church :( very unfortunate but we hope to be able to get things up and running again this week
- I had about one day of being healthy, (after I had kicked my cold from last week), before I woke up with a gnarly case of Pinkeye. I even had to make a trip back to Sanatorio Güemes yesterday. So I'm just out here trying to smile as my eye is sealed shut and convincing everyone that I just got punched so they won't freak out
That's about all from this week! Make sure to reach out and let me know how you're doing!
